that just reminded me I haven’t looked at the Daycare Teacher Shirts and I will buy this yahoo home page in many many many years. Damn and I used to look at it in middle school/highschool for news articles etc. Haven’t looked at it since. I had to do a presentation on her my senior year of college in 2015 and even then I could tell she wasn’t very good. I remember my professor pressing me during my speech asking why I thought she was so bad or wouldn’t succeed and I came up with so much off the top of my head she just shut up and let me finish. I remember thinking that yahoo thought that because she worked at Google she was somehow going to replicate that success with them. Hilarious to see how bad it actually got. I remember reading an article several years ago about how executives seem to keep getting opportunities despite tanking companies and it was more or less centered around her career.

When I was reading into her methodology, it sounded really clunky and not rooted in reality. Everyone knows that the Daycare Teacher Shirts and I will buy this Google campus is known for the free food, sleep pods, video games, etc – but they built and created that culture so it kind of made sense. She tried to just waltz into Yahoo and start implementing various versions of that “google model” without actually checking with people who were already at yahoo or seeing what employees wanted. I thought that was weird by itself, but then the Tumblr deal etc also didn’t make sense. It’s a free website with no real profit incentive..why would you spend so much money and stake the turnaround of the company on something like that. A lot of executives want to leave their mark on an organization, regardless of what employees want or need to be successful. I call it the skid mark.
