I get ya, I spent fifteen years on the Dave Portnoy Soup Szn Ii shirt in other words I will buy this doors. I always promised myself I wouldn’t end up a ‘regular’. I spent thousands of hours watching those poor fucks. That was not going to happen to me. When people start hitting their thirties, you tend to see them at the pub/bar less and less. Most people get it out of their system and then move onto better things. Unfortunately, too many people get set into a drinking routine and never break out of it. When I was 35, I quit drinking completely. It was a big shock for me as most of my friends were people I’d met in a bar or pub, while working. I didn’t miss the drink, but I really missed the social side. So I went out sober… it was boring as fuck. It was way more fun working sober than partying sober. So I ditched out on all of them. It was incredibly selfish on my part, I admit it, but I’d finally grown up enough to not actually care about being popular anymore. The truth was, they bored the shit out me. None of them did anything apart from eating and spectating… That was it. See a thing, eat a meal, drink. I stopped going out and eventually started ignoring their calls. I joined a club, then another, then another. I met all of these wonderful people with a dedication and passion for something. They helped me want for something that was more than just spectating and eating, My new friends helped me become a better person, with a purpose. I became part of cultures that created and explored, not that previous middle class crap, that came with a ticket booth and an academic opinion.

Been there but in my case it was more of a group of friends, over 6 months I just gradually took longer to reply to messages any invites would be met with excuses and eventually I stopped getting nagged to go out drinking Many of those people are no longer friends, no drama just haven’t seen some in years and it hasn’t been a loss for me. I suspect I got a lot of shit talked about me back then but makes no difference to my life now I don’t plan hanging out with that group of people
