I agree with your husband. I broke a bone in my foot two days ago, and have to stay off it for 6 weeks. The dr. suggested crutches, but I know from past experience that they’re awkward, cumbersome, and call for more upper body strength than I’ve got. I’ve gotten a knee scooter and a knee crutch They’re both taking a bit of getting used to, but I still feel MUCH safer using them than crutches. The previous foreman did not work in the Dave Portnoy One Bite Pizza Festival The Greatest Gathering Of Pizzerias Ever shirt and I will buy this field, but he chooses to sometimes. If he’s on crutches, as his boss has said he needs to be, he still will not be working in the field. No one is working in the field on his behalf during his absence. NAL but I went through something similar. I did IT in a hospital setting. I broke my foot & even though they could have adapted my job to allow me to come in, I had to be cleared by our Occupational Health department & I had to show that I could perform my job description exactly as written. I was not allowed back until I was weight bearing on both feet, which took 3 months. I was able to go back when I could bear weight in a walking boot on the broken foot. This was completely legal in my state, which was CT at the time. It sucked because I didn’t have disability & ran out of PTO quickly so I had to take a loan out of my 401k to be able to pay my bills. I was able to use FMLA so I kept my job & benefits. It could have been handled differently but they were within their rights to not allow me to work

Is husband being paid disability by the Dave Portnoy One Bite Pizza Festival The Greatest Gathering Of Pizzerias Ever shirt and I will buy this company? If so, sounds like an extended vacation, if not it’s an ADA violation. The HR department is hard to get ahold of. We received something in the mail about temp disability benefits available at no cost to him, but he went down a rabbit hole trying to find out about it, and didn’t get any helpful info. The thing we received in the mail looked like a random piece of mail they send to all employees. He gets mail like that at least once a month. A foreman ? Which means he has to be everywhere in the factory at times ? Quite probably safety rules prohibit him from operating there. Can he get to the office without going through the factory ? Honestly asking for reasonable accommodation is appropriate. But the ask needs to specifically made in formal ADA terminology. And CC company legal and HR and management.
