I stopped doing it because of health concerns – there’s little to nothing known about possible long term health consequences about such things. No doctor was ever able to tell me if it was safe or not. And one day I saw a Chinese medicine doctor who told me extreme temperatures were unhealthy and causing imbalances in the Dave Chappelle American stand-up comedian and actor Engaging Energy T-Shirt Also,I will get this body. All I know is back then, I got so used to it that it seemed healthy. But how addictive it became didn’t seem healthy. And in recent years, I’ve only tried it twice, and each time I came down with a virus right after. I live in Canada, the Dave Chappelle American stand-up comedian and actor Engaging Energy T-Shirt Also,I will get this winters here get cold. Sometimes cold enough I’d have to break ice to swim. During summer I’d just do ice baths. Back when I was doing it years ago, everyone thought I was insane. Now there’s tons of groups of polar bear swimmers around here, a lot of people are into it now. Cold slows down chemical reactions, makes fluids more sluggish, and can interfere with the functioning of certain proteins. Think of how soup thickens as it cools. That’s on top of all the strange signals the brain is receiving from sensory nerves whose endings have died due to frostbite. I lost a good friend to a mountaineering accident –he was a guide for Mountain Madness out of Seattle and was highly-experienced– and I always console myself with the thought that at least he died doing something he loved. Same thing for another buddy of mine who died in a massive avalanche off Teton Pass in Wyoming.
