Think stuff like “you’re my children and I love all of you. Im not planning to to have children but something I do with my youngest cousin is I just believe them. I was never trusted with my feelings, situations that happens or even with my dreams so I just stopped talking about nearly anything. I always make sure that them know I would believe, trust and listen to them no matter what I didn’t beat my children, or ever say “because I said so”. There was always a reason, explanation, etc. Understanding why something is wrong helps immensely in my opinion. My parents made me feel guilty for being bullied as a kid. They gave me the usual “advice” not to listen, to ignore the bullies, and to be the “bigger person” and I know that they probably didn’t believe what I told them happened daily. Frustrated by my crying and coming home with bruises and all that, sometimes they scolded me publicly and even hit me once or twice.

As a result, as an adult, I’m not able to seek help and my whole relationship with conflict and truth is twisted and massively fucked up. They both got educated and now say it never occurred to them that they could have refused. Now on to my grands. Paying lip service to tooth care. I was talked down and declared a useless nobody by my step-father for over a decade, what kicked me into depression… so I swore to me that, if I would ever have kids, I want them to know that they have my support and that I’m there to help them, if they need me (assuming I can help…). It was such a scramble for me to figure out what to do with a paycheck. Still have money anxiety. Having to justify every purchase even a bag of chips is not healthy. I’m simply not having kids because I’m not fit to be a parent. As “successful” as my own parents are, they weren’t fit to raise me either. Control. I will make sure to always validate my kids feelings and to raise them to not overly depend on someone because my parents literally made me so scared of being self reliant while growing up. Another thing is denying their mental issues, and this is a problem I saw across all of the generations in my family, young and old alike, there is probably no one who was treated right with their mental problems and illnesses, and I won’t push it through with medicaments, I’ll try to adjust surroundings first, and only when that doesn’t help would I resort to drugs. Too lenient. Gave me too much of what I want. Cared too much about how felt instead of how strong and compitent and willful I was.
