It isn’t 1980 anymore. Wages are frozen while inflation skyrockets. Houses are well beyond the Dansbae swanson Classic T-Shirt it is in the first place but reach of many under-35’s. Things are not getting better and have to change. “A vast open internet” doesn’t do much when most skilled jobs require formal education in a field, which tends to cost money. So did all you 37k people who upvoted this dumb gibe also write to your representatives and tell them you won’t vote for them unless they raise the minimum wage? Yeah, I didn’t think so. No the problem is that today’s kids think they should be able to buy a house directly out of college and not have to live with a roommate. They want a manager’s lifestyle without having to work up the ladder. All y’all talking about your old parents don’t realize when y’all were young they also had a hard time paying rent) mortgage. It was a time we made maybe $200 week and that was a lot of money. It isn’t that we don’t understand, it’s that we never made as much money as our children do and will, so we don’t pay out as much as you do/ will. How do you think you got where you are? Those parents you speak of. My mom was a teacher and raises two of us on less than 16k a year. Her mortgage was $200. Try that ratio. You g people today don’t have what it takes to make it on less. Many times we didn’t have tv or phones. Sacrifices were made. Your turn to make them. I am a proud 55 year old. I live in one of the most expensive places to live in the country. All rent/mortgages are ridiculous. No matter where you are. The difference is in what kind of sacrifice will our young adults actually make? Eat at home, learn to cook, grow your own food, make date night $20. Drive a ten year old vehicle or older. It took us all these years to have what we have. We didn’t instantly have a house, furniture, car, pets and 2.4 kids. Stop trying to have it all!

People are not entitled to want a living wage for their labor. You’re advocating for 12-16 hour days working multiple jobs to get the Dansbae swanson Classic T-Shirt it is in the first place but money to survive. It is if you worked for it. You pay the minimum decided by society or your go out of business. Simple stuff, 3 month-old failed trolling account. I catch myself doing this, even just being in my mid-30s. I recently realized that I’ve been tipping $1 a drink since like 2006. It should be more like $1.50 a drink at this point. This is a trivial example, but I use it to illustrate how easy it is to set a number in your head for what something is “worth” and then fail to update that number for way too long. I guess it depends on your drink though. Like opened a bottle/can of beer? meh. Made a cocktail? Even if it’s following a recipe, it’s a skill learned. And on top of that, depends on how much your drink costs. I could get a MGD in NYC for $5, but get it for $2 outside of the city. does your tip get raised because the same product costs more? But also, raising minimum wage won’t help anything… min wage job is low skill & low value, you don’t fix the problem by overpaying for it. You need to find ways to motivate min wage workers to get more skill and be of more value so that they can earn more money. Except someone always needs to work the “low value” jobs, and if can’t only be students, since there’s a limited supply of them and they can’t work during school hours, which is when most businesses like to be open.
