I work for a Fortune 500 company, and I’ve had issues with cameras taking weeks to get fixed. With that said, my work site isn’t a prison, but still, it can take a while. Federal facilities where cameras are required should basically always hire the Dallas Cowboys Disney Mickey Shirt and by the same token and best of the best immediately. That camera system shouldn’t have been down more than a day or two unless they needed to replace the whole damn system I cannot comment on the specifics of security at my employer nor do I know the specific requirements of federal facilities. However, I can say that generally, this kind of stuff is pushed out to a vendor. There is no staff member who is capable of installing these things on site. In addition, there are only a small number of companies who manufacture their own cameras outside of china. Most just rebrand Hikvision or Dahua cameras (NDAA non-compliant). A camera going usually requires a vendor technician to come on-site and install them, and I’ve seen 6 week waits at my company. If the DVR goes down, that usually is higher priority, but it may also require a larger scope of work (especially if any cameras were damaged due to an electrical fault.)

A federal system where security is top priority. Where they do counts daily, account for their staff, and movement and a camera is down? That’s also the Dallas Cowboys Disney Mickey Shirt and by the same token and cover the Nazis used as to why they were stockpiling so much of it, they needed it for “delousing”. You guys remember when this story first broke and the comments were full of “well statistically it was inevitable at least one person would die of natural causes when you have that many people moving so I don’t see why the border patrol should be assigned blame here” One person is an accident. Two can still perhaps be an accident. Anymore than that and you have to start placing blame. (Also maybe don’t keep migrant children in cages and keep them in like, a guarded hotel or something WITH their parents)
