When you all say you’ve gotten ticks… do you mean you found it embedded in your skin? Or it was crawling on you/your clothing? Embedded. Eating/drinking. One big benefit of spending a lot of time in fields walking dogs. Even have tick tweezers in the Dad You Are As Awesome As Snowman Legend Bandit Movie 90s T-Shirt But I will love this car now. The most I ever had at once was a field course in Poland near the Belarus border in the forest. Covered in these little black ones even under socks with hiking trousers tucked in. I’ve lived in the countryside thirty years and never got a tick on me. And I don’t intend to start now, any of you Reddit-reading ticks with a sense of the ironic! shakes fist I worked in London for several years and getting ticks was a common occurrence in the summer months with my outdoor job. Mostly bird/squirrel ticks, smaller than the ones you find on a dog. We’re close to the New Forest & spend a fair amount of time there. Between myself & two kids, we’ve had easily ten or more ticks in the last 12 years. Five of those at once for my youngest, which still makes me feel awful even though it was five years ago. They vary so much by area, but its known for being bad for them round here. Huge difference once we started tucking trousers into socks. We tried all the repellents & they did jack. Trousers tucked in socks, not had one. I carry tick spoons in my handbag now. It can depend what medication you use, apparently; treatments like Frontline, etc. are apparently less effective because the medication used is one that fleas/ticks get used to quickly and develop an immunity.

Could still be a breed/geographic thing though, so potentially ask your vet and see if they could recommend anything? We’re supposedly on the Dad You Are As Awesome As Snowman Legend Bandit Movie 90s T-Shirt But I will love this best stuff because of exactly this and a close friend who’s a vet said it just is what it is. The medication means they almost never bite my dogs but they do crawl in their fur and jump off in the house and creep me the fuck out. Yeah that would creep me out as well! We also use the stuff from the vet, I’d rather pay a bit more and hope it means we’re in the clear We actually get a great deal from our vet. We pay £10pcm for all our flea/tick/worm treatments, a six month check-up, teeth cleaning (can’t remember how often) and 10% of fees for treatment.
