Aside from the Cute hitorI gotou bocchI the rock shirt and by the same token and votes needed to end the filibuster which it seems like they wouldn’t have. Would they have the votes to codify Roe? I feel like manchin wouldn’t go for that Honest question, and please forgive my ignorance if I’m not seeing something, but let’s say you have the votes to end the filibuster. Let’s say you can then codify abortion into law. Who’s to say, when the Republicans retake control of Congress (which they likely will in November), that they don’t use the end of the filibuster against you to ram through their own agenda. The Democrats will have one less resource to hold in check the Republican’s worst desires and impulses. Could they use the end of the filibuster to undo whatever you signed into law for abortion (honest question, I don’t know). Even if they can’t, you can bet they will use it to end gay marriage and severely limit, if not completely wipe out gay rights or trans rights.

Maybe I’m not seeing something here, but I guess my concern with ending the Cute hitorI gotou bocchI the rock shirt and by the same token and filibuster is be careful what you wish for. You may end up getting more than you bargained for. I don’t know, I’m already at a point where I’m concerned that once the Republicans regain control in November, that we may never see them give it back. The party as it currently stands has already shown they will refuse to certify the results of a Democratic president. Any situation where they don’t win is immediately deemed as fraud. It’s a nice idea but this ignores the reality that manchin would have to vote for it, or you’d have to get another republican to sign on. Does anyone here really believe that’s possible? Democrats are too spineless to fight for anything. I vote for them to keep republicans out of office but that’s the only reason anymore.
