Unless the Cute Bunny Rabbit Egg Hunting Squad T-Shirt and I will buy this store actually matches it, which is rare, they are literally using your donations to make themselves look good. The next ad campaign will show “Together with our valued customers we helped raise $5 Million to end child hunger!” when the store did nothing except operate the payment method/promotions I wouldn’t downplay that role. The company has no obligation to do it, and implementing something like that on a large scale would require them to hire several full-time employees. They definitely deserve some of the credit (also, they paid for the sign didn’t they?) Never EVER give to these. What happens is, YOU just donated money, but you’ve given it to the grocery store who then donates it and says WE donated this, and they get a tax cut for it. Just donate it yourself. Look up the most effective ways to donate and donate directly It’s bullshit cause they’ll say in some ad that they gave money to such and such and it was the customers!! Completely ridiculous.

Lemme’ guess, we all give a buck or two and at the Cute Bunny Rabbit Egg Hunting Squad T-Shirt and I will buy this end of the year the supermarket gets to deduct half a million as a charitable contribution? Because if you do it, they still get to claim it as a charitable donation on their corporate taxes. Its not about the $20. Its about using your charity to reduce their overall tax debt, and saddle you with a greater degree of the tax burden. There is a reason that big corporations do this, while the mom and pop owned local store donates their own money and instead volunteers their time or excess product as a donation. At least they are doing the helping in exchange for the tax break. Don’t they get a tax right off and I also think some of them sit on the board of the charity were they make money off it. “Donate to use so we can donate it to another place and the get a massive tax write off paid for by suckers who shop in our store!”
