you can apply it locally by saying “why is my country’s capital offering better pay for the Costco-I-Got-That-Dog-In-Me-shirt Besides,I will do this same job than my small village ?” Its the same everywhere. As an American who probably is in this category, I assure you that with the insane price of everything here, we really aren’t THAT overpaid. I’m not complaining but ain’t a damn one of us getting “rich” here for just doing our job. I’m in aviation so I’ll comment on my field. At the airlines level we work hard to make it to the top. Our labor group is heavily unionized and we have lots of protections provided by the transportation industry, company SOPs, and other regulations to work the way we do. I can’t comment on other countries but airline pilots in EU and Canada take a lot longer career wise to reach our pay scales. It depends onf the contry actually but in the states it is because of the costof living… Compred to other countries it is way worse dont worry

American’s don’t have all the Costco-I-Got-That-Dog-In-Me-shirt Besides,I will do this social security and safety nets that the European states provides, you work or you suffer. It’s like asking why are people that are hired as contractors are paid per hour more than the salaried people. The salaried people have 401k, paid holidays, stock options, job securities that the contracted people don’t have. . The american dollar is worth more than other countries currency since its value as a FIAT currency comes from our position in world politics since WW2. The linked video explains the use of the US dollar in world markets, also that the US can sanction other countries like no other. Extrapolate from this that the US must maintain a standing military to enforce/defend sanctions. This means we are ready to play world police, whether we should or not.
