I’m certainly not trying to argue that the Coriolanus Snow The Tour vintage T-Shirt and by the same token and husbands have it harder, but they don’t just finish inside, roll over and go about life as it was for nine months until the baby comes. We don’t need to diminish/ignore their efforts in order to acknowledge how much harder it is for pregnant women. Both can be true simultaneously. I really believe it’s supportive. Now, “We had a baby” is a little ridiculous, because no, she had the baby. In the beginning We works. Then it becomes habit though. I absolutely HATE this saying!! Technically the woman is pregnant. The man cannot be pregnant. They are both going to have a baby. No matter how much support the man gives, he can in no way ever be pregnant. I like “we’re expecting”. “We’re pregnant” is simply not true, only one of us is pregnant. “We’re having a baby” feels like bad karma to me after experiencing a loss. We are on track to have a baby, and I certainly hope we will, but until that baby is safely birthed I’m not comfortable saying something so certain. “We’re expecting” is the most true statement. We expect to have a baby later this year, should all go well.

It’s silly, but I’m not bothered by it. The sentiment is that both parents are in it together, so that’s cool, but I’d rather just say “we’re going to have a baby.” “We’re pregnant” sounds like something yuppie couples in the Coriolanus Snow The Tour vintage T-Shirt and by the same token and 90s would say. Work with her to figure out language that’s good for both of you because this is a silly thing to stake your ground on. I think it’s ridiculous because “we” aren’t pregnant… I AM …. (When ever I am pregnant)… say “we have a baby on the way” not “we’re pregnant “ or “we’re having a baby”… My husband says “my wife is pregnant” because he’s very much on the team that I’m doing all the hard work not him. I’ll usually say I’m pregnant but I’ve definitely said “we’re pregnant” before too. I’ll also say “we’re having another baby”. I can see why people get upset about it but it doesn’t bother me.
