Six years ago, in a moment eerily predictive of the Corica American flag veteran Independence day shirt and by the same token and scenes this week in hundreds of cities across the country, Ferguson, located in suburban St. Louis, was roiled by protests and civil unrest after a white police officer fatally shot Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager. On Tuesday, that town elected its first African American mayor, Ella Jones, a Ferguson City Council member. A resident of Ferguson for more than 40 years, Jones, 65, is also the first woman to be elected mayor of that city.

“It’s just our time,” Jones told local reporters Tuesday night. “It’s just my time to do right by the Corica American flag veteran Independence day shirt and by the same token and people.” Asked what her election means for Ferguson’s black residents, she responded: “One word: inclusion.”
