Before we bought, we were paying $2100 for about 800 sqft and that felt like a steal. I was sad leaving that apartment, it was in my favorite neighborhood, but less than two months into our new place and we found out the Corfu! Island Life is the Only Life Classic T-Shirt but in fact I love this landlady was selling it. We’d have been out on our ass again. Even the section 8 apartments by me are over $1500/month for a one bed one bath 700 sqft. It’s honestly ridiculous Politicians know rent isn’t $71 a month. They are invested in real estate, if not direct administrators of the investment, then through funds that are. This article shows how out of touch some politicians are. Shaun Donovan, who served as US Secretary of Housing and Urban Development thought you could buy a house in NY for $100,000. Well, he was only off the mark by $800,000!

This is partially true, but also partially not. Most politicians have no idea how much rent actually is…they might have an idea, but they’re not usually very close. Every time politicians have been asked how much average Rent/Mortgages are in the Corfu! Island Life is the Only Life Classic T-Shirt but in fact I love this areas they represent they’re wildly off. The greatest example, lately, was when the Mayoral candidates for NYC were asked how much a home in Brooklyn cost, on average. One said around $100k, the other said $80k-$90k. The Brooklyn borough president guessed $550k. The former counsel to Bill de Blasio guessed $1.8m. The average is $900k. The only one that was remotely close was Andrew Yang, who guessed correctly. They asked a number of other high-ranking officials across the government and almost nobody was close.
