My psych decided I needed assessment by the Conquer Arnold Black Shirt so you should to go to store and get this hospital, and called the police. I did not. The ambulance came, and the paramedics walked me out to the ambulance, where they strapped me to a jump seat with a single seatbelt, took my BP, and asked me what was going on. We drove a whole MILE to the hospital. That was it. They threw me in a wheel chair and brought me in. I was billed 2k for the privilege of an overpriced Uber with sirens (why in the dickens did I need lights and sirens for a non-emergency?), because my insurance decided that they didn’t really need to cover it. That’s just not even the most ridiculous thing that has happened with medical care and insurance, because yay chronic illness, but it is the most relevant to the post. I’m going to lose my insurance in 2 days, and because it is tied to employment in this country and I’m disabled and can’t work, welp,

A UK ambulance, which doesn’t make a profit, costs between £250 and £360 per call out. So that includes the Conquer Arnold Black Shirt so you should to go to store and get this cost of all the equipment and waiting around 24 hours for a call. So that’s a true cost for reference. Nah, people without insurance aren’t the ones getting ripped off. It’s the people that DO have insurance that are getting ripped off. We pay exorbitant amounts for coverage, then get raped on expenses because of cost shifting. They know people who can’t afford insurance aren’t going to pay shit, so they shift the cost to the rest of us. It’s a criminal enterprise between the providers and the insurance companies. The thing you can count is them not being the ones left holding the bag. Fuck this system.
