The popular sentiment these days though is to hate anything American. We’re a relatively young country founded by Brittains built by immigrants whose customs melded and became a hodgepodge. Our collective culture is a homage to many different cultures of the people who emigrated here. Of course countries like UK, France, Italy, Greece etc have centuries of historical identity and customs that have much more homogeneous and linear pedigree. Probably the main reason people make that assumption

Because we don’t bro lol. Our traditions are a neutral background most people don’t notice just because it’s gone global and includes aspects from all kinds of cultures.
