Car companies are usually super slow at the Connect To God The Password Is Prayer Shirt and I love this software side of things. (Of course due to dafety and stability reasons…?) I am a Tesla owner. If any of the major manufacturers come out with something that is a true Model 3 performance competitor at a even remotely similar price, I’ll dump mine. The car has constant problems. In 4500 miles of ownership it’s been to the dealership a half dozen times. Rear usb ports don’t work. Driver seat squeaks. Have to take it in to have a garage door opener added (at $300 bucks, because that’s now an add on when it used to be standard), the stereo fades in and out when you are streaming, and now I have an intermittent warning about the passenger airbag/restraint system needing service. In the first 2 trips to the dealership they damaged 2 of the wheels. One was so damaged they had to replace the tire as well as the wheel. The second one they told me “tough shit, we didn’t do that. Good luck”.There is no loaner. They give you uber credits that expire that day, which you can’t use to tip.The car is quick, it’s fairly fun to drive, and being able to heat it up from my phone, or roll the windows up remotely is neat, but at 60k, it is a true bummer to have service be such a mess, especially when it’s an unreliable vehicle.

I truly thought “I paid 60k for this fucking thing and they won’t give me a loaner. Check my credit card statement later that day and they pull the tip from your personal payment method. There is literally no way to consume Tesla service on your own that doesn’t cost you money out of your own pocket. They also refuse to off any level of mobile service, and I live less than 20 minutes from the nearest dealership. I have no idea how those who are further out/remote get it done. Oh, and they don’t charge your vehicle for you to get home after service, making those further from dealers even more screwed.
