Very simple people. This is not an inevitable consequence you as victims are suffering (looking at you, fellow millennials). Hopefully Gen Z has half a brain and doesn’t take out a ton of student debt for bullshit (or incomplete) degrees. Why do Democrats call out tax breaks as benefitting the Class of 2033 Processing 2nd Grade Level Unclocked Video Games T-Shirt and by the same token and rich? Yet who mostly benefits here? Not poor inner city minorities but well off families instead? Why not tax the endowments from many of these tuition gouging colleges where the problem originates from to pay for these breaks. Dammit, I am tired of paying for police and fire protection! I have never had a break-in and it’s been years since my house burned down. Why should I have to pay for a library? I never check out books. Public schools are a waste too. I don’t have kids!

I ride a bike. Why should I help subsidize oil companies? Why do my taxes pay for highways? Why should I have to pay for paved streets, parking ramps, snow removal and all the Class of 2033 Processing 2nd Grade Level Unclocked Video Games T-Shirt and by the same token and extra sewers necessary for their runoff!?! How about just making the interest rate zero if you pay your student loans on time? Also, try to address the problem of skyrocketing college costs? Otherwise nothing really changes. I don’t agree that the person who decided NOT to go to college due to costs should pay for the loans of those who decided to go to college and get an education. As a parent of a college educated person. I can say that of course I’d like the debt cancelled for my kid. But there are issues that this isn’t going to resolve. I’ve watched our government repeatedly try and help Americans get their children educated. That’s great. Each time the universities and colleges raised their prices. They then oversold the benefits. My child graduated into the great recession. She was not able to get a full time job. I watched professors dance around on stage at the graduation that did very little teaching. Seemed like they wanted to spend their time writing a book to achieve their own wealth while delegating the teaching to subordinates. I’m sure this forgiveness will result in further price increases to support this system of inequality. What will AOC do about this injustice. Or does she plan on supporting this expensive system?
