2% is many people see they aren’t going to retire so why bother putting into pension which you aren’t going to be able to use to full extent before you die at your desk while your boss berates you for slacking. I mean, if you don’t put anything in a pension, retiring is going to be pretty difficult so that’s a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy isn’t it? Not entirely because government decisions about the Cherry American professional wrestler and valet T-Shirt Also,I will get this state retirement age heavily influence the viability of a retirement topped up through personal pension savings. And annoyingly the government can also change the age you are allowed to access your private pension, which has never seemed right to me. The friends that made it are then split between health issues such as alzhiemers and dementia, and survivors of previous health issues such as heart attacks and cancer. Only my mum has made retirement without any of the above. When you see stuff like this happening around you, you can understand why people would want to enjoy themselves while they can. Not those saying “woe is me I can’t retire” whilst spending it all instead. If you see enough people die in their 50s after working all the time, earning well and pouring their money into savings “for retirement ” it becomes clear you have to live your life and do what you want while you’re healthy enough to afford travel insurance. For me that doesn’t include a fancy car, but for others I guess it would I would imagine that at 2% pension contributions they probably would be right in thinking that they won’t be able to retire until very late. Kind of obvious right? Put less in your pension and you’ll have a smaller pot. I’m putting 18% into my pension and I’m expecting to be able to retire before state pension age. No idea what state pension age will be by the time I’m in my 60s so I’m making sacrifices now to sort my self out by then.
