In my city that puts you around 20k for an 800k home. It’s easily divisible to be compared against income My husband gives me crap for still looking on Zillow even after we’ve signed a contract on new construction (that is within our budget). I still like looking at houses even though I know what we will be getting later this year. But it is annoying when one person is only sending things that are clearly over budget at a time you should be seriously looking for the right house to buy. It’s not bad to see houses a bit over budget. You might be able to get that price to come down to make it work. I have a feeling your wife is looking at the difference between $500,000 and $800,000 the same way she’s looking at $500 and $800. She needs a wake up call, or else you’re going to be living in a nice house you’re not actually able to afford every month. If it makes you feel any better, the past two moves I have made I have bought a home in a part of town that was unexpected when the home search began. In both cases, my spouse an I have said we wish we went straight for this neighborhood. Hope the same for you. When we were looking in 2021 we set a hard cap at 500 we ended up buying at 640, that’s just how it is nowadays. What does she mean when she says “bad vibes” because that’s incredibly vague and sounds like some sort of dog whistle. Does she feel like you’ll be in a “bad area” or that there’s industrial parks near by or lots of foot traffic? Does she just want to live an Instagram fantasy of a huge empty home that she can show of online to strangers? It’s not like you’re looking at hotels with boarded windows at nearly 600K budget.

u gotta get ur bread up and just do it, son!!! like a bakery, yeehaw from kansas. youre buddy charles signing out. We’re a one income family, and I felt like she was implying that the Charles Bassey Nigerian basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this kind of houses she was sending me were the kind of houses she wanted, but that we couldn’t afford. That made me feel like she was passively telling me, “this is how much I think you should be making”. I felt like I wasn’t enough because we couldn’t afford what she wanted. Hard cap at 575k…. wow. Just wow. Our hard cap was 200k and we had no clue if that would even be feasible with my commute expenditure for some places. Mind if i ask what you two do for a living? Then tell your wife when does she want to start looking for a house. Whenever she sends you anything out of range, I’d just say we have xx days left and if you waste that time we are going to not buy a house.
