Just my observation, but it seems like they’ve been telling kids that for so long now that there is a surplus in many fields. If the Charles Barkley An American Basketball Player Vintage T-Shirt moreover I will buy this past few years have taught me anything, it’s that learning a trade is going to be what opens doors for a lot of people now. At least over the next 10-20 years. Plumbers, electricians, handymen, mechanics, construction workers… these folks can all change a premium now because they’re so in demand. Most of these jobs require an associates degree from a trade school or an apprenticeship, but some of them just require the knowledge and skills. But even a couple years at a trade school is going to be significantly cheaper than even the cheapest 4 year degree. I live less than a mile away from the best technical college in my state. That place turns out so many graduates every year that go on to make a pretty darn good living off of a 2 year degree that doesn’t leave them in a huge amount of debt. Of course, there are still going to be careers that require a bachelor’s degree or higher. But that’s not the path for everyone. We have been undervaluing trade schools and apprenticeships for a few generations now, and it’s time for teachers, parents, and students to give them a second look, imo. That is only partially true. Some degrees open doors and some degrees are totally useless. Just picking any degree without any plan after graduation doesn’t work. Best approach is to look for a job or jobs in a field that is actually hiring college graduates before you get your degree. Then decide what type of degree or degrees you need to get that job or work in that field. Otherwise, your degree could be totally worthless when you graduate. Also, If the job you want doesn’t require a degree than getting one is a waste of time and money.

College doesn’t open doors anymore. Employers want relevant job experience more. If you spend a few years in college, you likely don’t have job experience since you spent all your time studying. People who graduated December of 2021 were in a prime spot to get a job out the Charles Barkley An American Basketball Player Vintage T-Shirt moreover I will buy this gate and a year of experience before any real economic threat loomed on the horizon compared to graduates now. I graduated August of 2008 and I am not sure if there was a worse time to graduate because of the massive economic downturn. I was competing against people with a degree and 5-10 years of experience for the same entry level position. Most degrees people get these days are useless. No one wants to be an engineer, they all have degrees in gender studies
