We travel 6 months a year and are always surprised if our hosts do anything for us. We have had some that take us shopping right away in Guadalajara but most places we stayed in Canada have a lockbox on and no interaction with a human which is perfect for us as we know how to use Google, tripadvisor and collect information on the Chaos Continues Arizona Diamondbacks World Series poster shirt moreover I love this city before we even arrive. I’ve never.used airbnb but I know people and some will get you to do whatever you will do for them. I would not entertain ridiculous requests. I’d have amap of the neighborhood with restaurants and other attractions plus bus or train stops. You could highlight your favourites and the reason (high end, very tasty, inexpensive, great atmosphere, cocktail hour etc.) Other than that, I would request they text messages to you as you are working and may not get to answer the phone each time. Then ignore stupid requests. I wouldn’t be researching squat for anyone. But I don’t research for myself.

Do you meet your guests in person and/or communicate with them a lot? Or do you get a lot of foreign guests? Maybe that’s why they feel more comfortable asking you to do things for them. I don’t like to be bothered either in hotel or Airbnb. I ask essential questions say thank you and move on. Some people are just entitled… if a host offers a nice gesture that goes beyond hosting that’s amazing, but definitely shouldn’t be expected or penalized if it doesn’t happen.
