The aesthetic of ads on tumblr became SO FUCKING UGLY, which is crazy considering so much of Tumblr was about building an aesthetic on your blog and dashboards. Exact same thing with the Central Catholic football 2023 Division III Champions back 2 back shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this Blockbuster could have bought Netflix narrative. In reality, whatever Netflix was would’ve been rolled into Blockbuster’s model, not receive one fifth the funding/support and we’d be talking about both as nostalgic memories. In reality, whatever Netflix was would’ve been rolled into Blockbuster’s model, not receive one fifth the funding/support and we’d be talking about both as nostalgic memories. I teach business courses to undergraduate and MBA students and this is one of the cases I’ve put together. Blockbuster knew about the need to pivot to streaming but didn’t have the access to capital. Blockbuster didn’t own the stores, they didn’t own the VHS/DVDs, they didn’t own the consoles. They had no assets. They had a brand, but in terms of tangibles, not much.

Blockbuster would have had to borrow money at such a high interest rate and with so many strings that it’s unlikely they could have invested sufficient capital into Netflix to build it into what it is today. Blockbuster had signaled to investors that they wanted a streaming service, but didn’t have a practical way to achieve it. In my view, Blockbuster not buying Netflix saved Netflix. Blockbuster was going to fail no matter what. You can’t run a business with almost no assets, you can’t grow that way. Yahoo likely would have done the Central Catholic football 2023 Division III Champions back 2 back shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this same thing. Looking for short-term gains, they would have engaged in heavy cost-cutting (which she was famous for), delaying R&D, laying off people, etc. Yahoo would have pushed to move it into their core product offering and launch some sort of grotesque streaming “platform”.

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
