One happened not long after I moved there and gave this child of the chilliest days of The Cold War quite a turn. I think most European countries have some kinda of siren warning system. The UK is an outlier for getting rid of theirs. The ones in towns around Broadmoor still work. Or similar sounding ones…. it’s been 2 decades since I lived near Given how targeted they can make them it would make sense to not send this out via the masts inside airports or crowded venues that would have other ways to tell people their part of the world is ending. For a more fun solution than simply turning the alerts off, you can book a flight and not be in the country. Treat yourself to a weekend in Ibiza or somewhere. If anyone has a phone stashed somewhere safe because you’re in an unsafe situation, it needs to be turned off from 22nd to 24th April. I’ve disabled emergency alerts on my phone because I’m a git, and on my Mum’s phone because she’s 92, her finger knuckles are the size of ping pong balls with arthiritis, and dismissing this alert will cause her a lot of pain and anxiety.
