I completely agree, but I think we’ll have to wait to get that. Right now, in the Ceasefire now teddy bear shirt and I will buy this face of MAGA extremism and the threat of a future Trump election, what we need is the kind of stability and normalcy Biden offers. Once we’re through this tumultuous period, I’d love to see Biden hand the torch off to a progressive successor who can really make the changes we need to see. I don’t know if this translates for everyone, but a New York Times opinion piece a little while back (I think it was Friedman but can’t find it) described Biden as a baseball pitcher who used to have a 94 mph fastball but now has an 87 mph. Not quite as sharp as his younger years, but still effective and qualified. Two traits we so desperately need right now. I remember the Joe Biden who debated Paul Ryan in the 2012 VP debate. He *mopped the floor* with him. Seriously made Ryan look like a complete idiot.

I hear a lot about how old Biden is but I feel like he never gets the Ceasefire now teddy bear shirt and I will buy this credit deserved for the Statesman that he is. His leadership through these times will be looked back upon so fondly by the history books. I was a skeptical vote the first time bc I wanted someone younger. This time I’ll be voting with my full confidence in his ability to lead this nation. I hear a lot about how old Biden is but I feel like he never gets the credit deserved for the Statesman that he is. Remember that Trump spent most of his presidency using the power of the federal government to help smear Biden because he was terrified of facing him in a fair fight and still lost. Biden is a strong candidate and the rich conservatives know that. So the billionaires that fear him have spent a lot of time and money using the media they bought to turn one of his biggest strengths (experience) into a weakness (he’s old). Ultimately I’m in the same place as you. I bought into some of the bullshit thrown at him, and held my nose while I voted for him the first time. But his successes and his poise during some really rough times has me now excited to vote for him again. My only compunction with him is his age. That’s it. I won’t hold my nose to vote for him again. Yes, he’s older than the hills, but dude is getting shit done that no other politician could do right now. He’s got that old man “I really couldn’t give any fucks, so let’s fucking go” attitude and I’m here for it. But I am also realistic, no ones challenging him on the left really, that has the backing to go the full yard on a democratic campaign, and I can’t stand the GOP, I’ll make sure to go out and vote for him, but I’m more concerned about who will fill that hole 4 years from now, and 8 years from now.
