That’s one of my biggest reasons for not wanting kids. Depression, anxiety, adhd, breast cancer (as well as other cancers), and Alzheimer’s all run in my family. Having dealt with the Catpuccino Meowrry Christmas shirt Besides,I will do this first three myself I can’t imagine passing that on and having a kid that’s going to grow up struggling and feeling as shitty as I did/do and possibly feeling suicidal. I genuinely feel bad for my parents having to deal with 3 kids who have all been suicidal and self harmed and I can’t handle that even being a possibility for me. That’s basically what gets me. Who am i to decide that my 5 billion year old bloodline should end? This dna has made a long looong trip and it’s sort of heartbreaking to think about it just poofing.

Yeah it’s trippy to think about how far it came. Tho I guess the Catpuccino Meowrry Christmas shirt Besides,I will do this other angle of that is, it likely happens to people on a regular basis and if I’m not mistaken, most human DNA is more similar than different, so it’s not like a particular line dying out is losing what makes humans the unique beings we are. Still, there is prob some biological compulsion for us to view it as important, if for no other reason than basic survival instinct and viewing offspring as an extension of ourselves in some way. It’s been a while since I read it, so I don’t know how I’d feel about it now, but I remember it getting pretty analytical about human psychology and how we deal with death. Let’s set the existence-of-God issue aside for a later volume, and just stipulate that in some way, self replicating organisms came into existence on this planet and immediately began trying to get rid of each other, either by spamming their environments with rough copies of themselves, or by more direct means which hardly need to be belabored.
