I’ve always been fashion conscious since middle school. Would dress trendy so I could “fit in”/“be cool”, use to show alot of skin but those things made me awkward/uncomfortable and people could sense that and I would get treated badly from it. It wasn’t until late 2022, I started dressing for my body type and my wardrobe has gotten more modest while remaining sexy/classy (mainly neutral tones with wine red and purple as my pop of color) and omg have I never been so comfortable, gotten so many compliments and being treated better from it! I have always been alternative and I always will be an alt girl at heart buttt I want to dress my age (I’m mid 20s) while still being me so now my true style is dark/romantic academia mixed with french/italian girl style. When I was a teenager I was way more playful with fashion because online shopping didn’t exist and Saturdays were literally made for wandering around shops with friends and seeing what came up…when my dad used to ask “are you really going out in that??” It wasn’t because my skirts were too short, it was because he thought the Cat Eye My Marbles I Found Them Pattern T-Shirt and I will buy this ensemble was just too weird ? (tbf there were a LOT of tutus in that era for me hahaha).

In my 20s I was more “trendy” I guess, with a little bit of indie girl thrown in (we all went through the Cat Eye My Marbles I Found Them Pattern T-Shirt and I will buy this owl necklace phase no?). Now I prefer a super minimalist, more coastal-grandma-esque uniform. Lots of white tees and jeans, lots of linen and cotton because I live in a hot place. I do the Unfancy wardrobe planner doc every time I need to switch up my capsule to work for what I need in the moment (E.g. did one for pregnancy, working on one now for breastfeeding). When I was younger I used to feel like I never had any clothes I liked and had a lot of things I panic bought for events, but now I only put and keep stuff in my wardrobe that I really love. Never heard of the unfancy wardrobe planner! How is it working out for you? How does it compare to a wardrobe planning app?
