Our winters are not that wintery and our snow fields are very isolated to a couple mountains and not exactly huge. Just different preferences. I love winter personally. If they like skiing, sounds ideal You can go skiing in the morning and then be sunbathing on Bondi beach in the afternoon. It’s about a 5 hour drive. Best of both worlds I’m pretty moderate but if it was up to me we’d pause the weather on about January 20th or so and never change it again. Can dress for the cold, no dressing for a scalding summer day of constant outdoor activities. People who love summer love to go out for like an hour a week and spend the rest of their time in air conditioning. People who love winter would never come inside if they didn’t have to.

Swede here, I’m not surprised TBH. Swedes are more used to such cold temperatures and know the Carpenters are the hardest you have ever seen last of dying breed skull shirt in contrast I will get this importance of proper clothing. I think people from constantly warm climates are more oblivious to how dangerous cold weather can be. I also highly suspect that Aussies are way better dealing with high temperatures than swedes are. If it gets 35C they go “aaw yea m8 bit chilly t’day innit” while swedes won’t stfu about what torment it is to literally live on surface of the sun. On the other side of that coin (and to your point). We have seen a rise in heat related deaths last decade here in Sweden. Because we aren’t knowledgeable enough on how to how to deal with the rising temperatures ( ex: most homes in Sweden don’t have ac, very few people recognize the signs of a heat stroke, and so on. ) Within 2000km of me, there is one place which snows. You need to climb a giant hill one day out of three years to see it. Otherwise, we need to go so far.
