Yes, a lot of things have never been better historically, but we are also kind of doomed. I want my kids to be able to afford to have fun and a meaningful life as they grow up. I feel like the world is barely going to stay habitable for my own life, why would I want to have a child for who I don’t even know if they’ll have a world to live in for their whole life? I live in a nation with weak social safety nets and an insanely high cost of living. It also doesn’t help that my nation has become politically unstable and is quickly shifting towards theocratic rule. My country is already depressingly crowded and globally we’re at 8 billion which is insane. There is a shortage of pretty much everything and its only going to get worse every year.
