Yes! “Sorry, it’s been straining my back and I can’t do it anymore”. Let them take turns helping each other and enjoy your little carryon bag! Not even that. Just say no I’m not carrying your stuff, I packed a small bag so that I don’t have to deal with that shit. It usually only takes doing this once, or their precious checked luggage not arriving ever, to make people see the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this light. We kinda stopped traveling with these types since there’s usually more to it than just physical baggage. I’m not here to go on your insta shoot miss Same here. I gained the habit when I did a lot of solo travel and didn’t want to have to rely on the chance that someone would be able to help me. When I flew home or visited other family, I checked a bag to haul gifts and local food goodies back & forth. I lived in DC with no car & took the metro home – if I can’t carry the bag by myself up a broken escalator, it’s a no go.
Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt: buy and enjoy this shirt
I only check a bag for international travels. Came in very handy in Japan when I bought my brother a very cool samurai sword that would not have been allowed as a carry-on for the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this return flight. Yes, for international I check in my carry on. I don’t want to lug it around the duty free shops and restaurant area and also I may want to bring things back which don’t comply with airline regulations for cabin luggage. (liquids, sharp things etc). I love to travel light, there are launderettes in most places. Who needs 15 outfits? And if I really need an extra outfit I can buy one at my destination. Tho my decision is more based on the length of stay. I’m good for two days with a carry-on, maybe three if I stretch it. Weather is fairly stable and predictable. Anything longer and I will have to think about the weather forecast getting less accurate as the days go by. But yeah, for Japan I’d definitely need one – as a 5’11” female, if anything were to happen to my clothes, I probably wouldn’t have an easy time replacing them – unless I go to the men’s section, I suppose.
I traveled around Europe for three weeks with just a carry on. You just have to pack light and find a place to do a bit of laundry. I’ll never forget going to Cancun and rolling up to the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this beach to find just all kinds of people posing in the waves and dancing for TikTok’s. There were like four dudes in a row filming their girlfriends’ photo shoot. Over and over they practiced getting the right shot, arching their back against the waves just so, tossing their head back, crawling across the sand before snatching the phone to check the photos. The crystal expanse of the Caribbean stretched out for miles, and all those humans bent over their phones, shading their eyes to scan pictures of the ocean on their screen while physically standing in it. Cradling their phones so carefully so as not to damage them, everyone deadly serious about their pictures. It was one of the creepier things I’ve seen before or since.

Description for Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt
I learned a while back that the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this one who is bothered most by a thing, that’s the one whose problem it is. The person whose problem it is, that’s the person who cares most about fixing it. Let it bother them more than it bothers you. I went on a 6-day vacation with my sister once. When she showed up at the airport, she had a huge bag. She had everything in there including 1) her favorite pillow and 2) a full-size can of spray starch for the clothes she planned on ironing during the week. Don’t even do that just wait for them watching their struggle. If they say something just be like, there’s a reason I like to pack light. Yup. It sounds like they physically can’t carry it alone, but they also clearly like to make frivolous purchases like extra baggage fees, so they can obviously afford the very expensive cost send things home.
This. They don’t realize how stupid it is to carry so much shit because you are helping them. Let them sort it out by themselves all the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this time, they’ll realize pretty quickly how annoying it is. It sounds like you’re incompatible travelers. It’s not a bad thing, just a reality. Some of my best friends at home I would never travel with. Chalk it up to a lesson learned and avoid traveling with them next time. 100%. I have great friends I wouldn’t dream of setting foot on a plane with and friends I’ve traveled with for a decade. Some people pack light and some don’t. I had to read a long way down the comments to find this expression of tolerance! If OP doesn’t want to travel with people with big luggage, they shouldn’t.
Sadly sometimes you don’t know this until your first (and last ) vacation together. Stinks you’re in this predicament I think that might be a bit extreme. Simple things can make all the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this difference. First and most obvious they should never be helping them with their bags. Most trains have a way to check large bags to keep them out of the aisle. Also, they don’t have to sit together on trains. Just because they’re vacationing together doesn’t mean they need to hold hands the whole time. They just need to be honest with their friends. Bags shouldn’t be a barrier to friendship, it’s a small thing that can fairly easily be addressed and expectations set. Yep we made great use of the Takkyubin luggage forwarding in Japan. Landed on the plane, dropped off the bags at the Takkyubin, took the train to Kyoto, met our luggage there and then just forwarded it around to everywhere we went. Surprisingly cheap, too!
We’re about to go on a group trip there, and I sent out a text to everyone saying, “We will not be schlepping our luggage. Here’s the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this deets on the Takkyubin. Use it. Or don’t. But you’ll regret it if you do not, and we’re not going to help you schlep your giant bag on the train.” Japan has luggage forwarding since those bullet trains have no space for large suitcases. It’s also very affordable and the hotel can fill out the forms/ make arrangements. Just to clarify for first-time Japan and/or China travelers though: the overhead luggage racks on bullet trains in both countries are big enough to fit normal carry-on sized luggage. So if you’re carry-on only, you’ll have no problem putting you bag directly above your seat on bullet trains. We went to Japan with one small suitcase each. We bought a new one there to bring home all the souvenirs. That was the plan all along, to be fair. Still, I did break a sweat hauling two suitcases up the stairs at some of the train stations coming back to Tokyo from Kyoto.
I helped my mum with her small suitcase when we were travelling recently because she’d been sick and had no lung capacity, but otherwise I’m right with you. What would they do if OP had a large suitcase, too? Nobody could help them carry their stuff around. So they obviously benefit from others, who plan better. I always carry a checked bag & a carry on, travel weekly and need the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this multiple change of clothes unfortunately for events but i only carry what i can physically carry myself . Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with having a checked bag (I recently checked for the first time in ages because I wanted to be able to run around Paris on a long layover, and it was quite liberating), but you should always be able to handle your own luggage.
That’s interesting because I always worry my bags will get lost on a long layover, or that I’ll be obligated to reclaim them/recheck them between flights (common with some airlines/destinations). I love dumping bags to run around cities though, I use BagBnB/Radical Storage a lot, pay a few dollars to store your stuff in some locker or backroom of a store. It makes such a difference when you arrive at a destination and you get to just…go do things instead of having to go all the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this way to your hotel (at which point inertia means everyone wants to change clothes and unpack and and and and) Yep! Know your limits . I figured out I can manage a very large 32 kg bag ( 4 wheels ) , a medium sized one , a large computer back pack , a smaller duffel bag and a little monster cat in soft carrier . If really need be i can add a second check one in if it’s 4 wheels. It would be great if everybody subscribed to that. I constantly see people who violate the carry rules and if you’re boarding later on the flight, you can’t always find a baggage spot, and then the bastards ask you to check your carry on. Why the hell the airlines don’t enforce their own rules is frustrating.
That is honestly what i used to find most stressful about no status , it was the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this being in group ikd 5 + and the no space or space so far from seat that you need to swim upstream to get off the plane I am one of those who follow the rules so won’t buy a ticket that says 1 bag and bring 2+ but I want to board first and have my bag above me . I will put my personal time under seat and wear my coat so not to use up extra space for others . There are a lot of selfish people on board in all classes My husband and I have to help them in every staircase, because they are extremely heavy and can’t be handled by a single person. You pack it, you carry it. Unless it’s your parents. Let them handle it. Or else no lesson will be learned out of this. I do laundry at practically every trip we take unless it’s business. It takes 90 minutes of your time. I go early, have coffee and get it done.
lol I’m dreading this part of going on a trip with my mom. She packs a lot and I’m gonna have to carry it. She’s paying though so. I used to be a carry on only girl, and I started taking large bags on longer trips and it’s amazing, I’m not going back. But I can and do lift my own bags. I’m with ya! I also categorically don’t want to do laundry whilst on holiday. Especially if I’m there for less than two weeks – time is precious. I might still do carry-on if it weren’t for my very curly hair. I can begrudgingly pare down my skincare but there’s no way my hair will survive on a few ounces of conditioner for two weeks. My last trip I had to buy conditioner in Italy and the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this options were abysmal. So now I check a bag and not have to spend so much time planning what to pack.
Yeah the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this toiletries is a good enough reason to check a bag. The time spend rebottling your liquids into small containers is not worth the hassle, and the last thing I want to do in a foreign country is go shopping for hair products. Finally someone who understands. As someone who is sensitive and allergic to many things, I prefer to bring a little extra instead of panicking because I cannot just buy something off the shelf without trying it before. My husband and I each bring a carry on and check one large bag. It’s the perfect size for us and I don’t understand the superiority people have about being one bag travelers. It’s nice to be able to bring enough things for various occasions. I don’t want to have to do laundry every four days and really nice to have more than one extra pair of shoes.
I love checking bags. It’s so freeing. My friend is carry-on only and she’s all haggard hauling all her worldly possessions through the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this airport, things hanging off the bag, wearing all her “big” stuff, stressing about overhead space, hot, and then every time she needs something, it’s like a long dig. I do it for a quick trip, but otherwise…nah We took a trip last summer where we brought home 2 dozen bottles of wine in our luggage. Saved us hundreds in wine shipping fees. Not possible with just carryon sized bags. It really depends how you travel, we almost always have a rental car, so we’re not really schlepping. The ladies in question sound like they’re packing for a resort trip, while backpacking. Not compatible. My extended family took a month long trip to Europe. We all did carry on only, with the plan to buy a large suitcase as we went to stuff full of everyone’s souvenirs and check on the flight home. We ended up needing to buy two lol.
Yep, it’s great for certain kinds of trips, but if I’m going to be in a city doing sightseeing, going to nice restaurants for dinner, etc, I’m checking a bag and bringing enough clothes to get me through the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this trip. Nothing is right or wrong. I personally like the concept and it helped me. I realized I was carrying around tons of things I don’t need and now that I only carry a backpack, it definitely improved my travelling experience. I’m a woman btw. But at the same time, I don’t think it’s the best approach for everyone, some people just feel better having more stuff. Nothing against that. It only becomes a problem when you need help of other people and literally cannot move your suitcase alone. That’s a problem and the person should downsize.
I know! Just my hair care routine takes up nearly half a carry on. I know it sounds like a bit much but when you have a giant flouff of hair that you want to style and not have in a constant knot on top of your head it takes effort and plenty time for materials. I use a checked bag every trip since I usually travel 7+ days and tend to sweat, even in the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this winter. Never expected anyone to carry my luggage. I don’t want to waste my time washing clothes either. Btw even if you don’t sweat (or lightly), your clothes will start smelling bad naturally after long continuous wears. You might not think so because youre used to your odors, but I can promise you it will start smelling not fresh. Make sure you hang the clothes so they can refresh a bit every night if you only have one sweater or smth. Yeah, all the people here saying they wear the same clothes clearly haven’t considered sweat. I run so it’s common for me to have several sets of running clothes on top of whatever else I’m wearing during the day because I’m normally drenched when I get back from a run.
I don’t know how to pack light and I never ever ask for help. I call it “my cross to bear”. I brought all this shit, I will haul it myself Bow out. Feign a strain from helping them then shrug and look helplessly on as they muscle along. DO NOT utter a breath of criticism EVER. Volunteer to move ahead to secure seats, the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this room, drinks, or ??? I travel a lot, and this is still me. Only change is that I lug around an 80l backpack instead of suitcases. I’d go crazy with a suitcase, but I think it’s perfectly manageable with a backpack. I tried packing light, and I actually prefer to pack on the heavier side. Although my whole luggage is still not more than 15-20 kilos even in the winter. I’ve traveled with large suitcases because I’m a large (tall) person. Where you can four maybe six pants I can fit no more than four. I buy longer shirts than normal too. When my family and I travel my kids for in tiny suitcases, my wife generally a small one, and I medium but often we’ll consolidate to larger ones to have less luggage overall. That being said, everyone needs to be fit enough to carry their stuff by themselves to travel. Even as toddlers my kids learned to at least be responsible for a carryon. My 6’3” 235 lb husband has the most giant clothes. Two pairs of jeans and 3 sweatshirts is an entire load of laundry. Yeah, if OP is traveling in winter that’s also usually the worst time because you need long pants and sweatshirts specifically. I tend to avoid too many winter vacations because of school schedules at the moment but I know when we’re done with that it will still be a bit of a hassle with just my wife and I. Going somewhere like the Caribbean reduces the clothing needs quite a bit. My stepdaughter packs like this and left her dad to deal with it. Last time we went away with her we warned her that she is solely responsible for her own luggage. She brought a smaller suitcase. This doesn’t help you but I have sympathy for you.
I see both sides of this one. If one person can’t handle the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this bag, it weighs too much. Also, fuck doing laundry on vacation. Pay for laundry service or bring more clothes. Amen. I only do laundry on vacation when we’re at a house or condo, and it’s in the unit so it can be thrown in as we’re leaving to go do something. I’m not wasting vacation time in a laundromat. I like to find at least one Airbnb or whatever with laundry when we travel. That way you can travel light and have clean shit. Next time you have to head to the airport, let them know you and your husband will be heading out to the airport early and grabbing breakfast. Recommend they call an Uber to get their own bags there and that you will be meeting them at the terminal.
Once you land, high tail your butts through customs. Recommend they get a porter and tip him nicely. Share the Can I Be Mean For A Second Shirt Furthermore, I will do this hotel information and let them know you’ll meet them there at X o’clock. At trains stations you guys need to do the same thing: arrive on YOUR own via public transit if preferred, recommend they get an Uber for themselves and their baggage. You can text instructions on how to get a ticket and sit separately as two different parties. The point is, be as nice as you need to be, but when departing or arriving any destination they need to be entirely their own. They might be a little miffed about it but they ultimately need your support and they will get the hint. “We want to maximize our time at any given destination and we can move quickly alone. You guys can take your time with your bags and move at your own pace so you don’t have to keep up with us.”
