This is probably the landlords way of keeping more of the money but also not passing the cost of processing on to you. Setup an automatic payment by check from your bank website. They will mail a physical check for free. And if there’s any dispute you can call your bank and ask for confirmation of all the checks cashed (you don’t get a picture of the cashed check like you usually do with hand-written checks). I used to do this with my landlord you lived on the floor above me; I always forgot to write the damn checks so I had the bank mail it to the mailbox next to mine. It was always on time, plus I didn’t use up the checks that I have to buy. My old complex did almost the opposite here we couldn’t pay with a check etc. We could pay online, but they decided to let another company handle it…and we had to pay a fee every single month to pay our own damn rent

This is becoming a huge trend and I’m quite tired of it. That’s funny, because my apartments said they will no longer accept payments at the office and they all have to be made through their app. Plus they add all the utilities and miscellaneous fees at the same time, and don’t allow partial payments.
