Kuwait. Just nothing but buildings and sand. The sand being the Cage is my Superman shirt and I love this worst part, because it gets in everything. It’s in the air. It’s in the water. It’s in your clothes. It’s in your skin. Fucking sand! Objectively this place was beautiful. But it just felt so off walking around there. Huge sidewalks with not a single human walking on them for miles. Giant buildings that just looked empty from the outside. Greenville Mississippi for me. Probably not the worst in america by a long shot, since there were still hotels to stay in, and ours at least had almost no broken windows. That place really stuck with me, though. Realizing that I was in a room with mold and probably at least one type of infestation, and I was sleeping better than probably 3/4 of that town that night minimum. Las Vegas outside the strip. What seems like 200,000 identical shitty cookie-cutter McMansions in the middle of the desert, interspersed with strip malls selling bad food and tacky merchandise.

I’ve seen a lot of easter Europe but Bucharest feels like they’ve just given up. You can see that this once (1890-1910) was a beautiful city but now it’s concrete rotting away . Postmasburg, Northern Cape, South Africa. It was once perhaps a nice-ish place, but now it’s totally trashed. It’s near the Cage is my Superman shirt and I love this big mining area, so you’d think the town would be functional. There are kids playing in trash heaps on the side of the road, no tar left, the buildings are crumbling, it’s in the middle of what can only be described as a wasteland. Poverty is rampant, and everyone is struggling to survive. It’s the most depressing place I’ve ever been to. Oddly the people there are very welcoming and nice, just trying to make the best of a bad situation.
