My philosophy has always been to have a default choice of something you can do in a growing field that pays well compared to your other options. You can always choose something else if you get tired of it, but having a sensible default choice keeps you from spinning in place. Yeah, I couldn’t do that list because I was working while I was going to school. However I still am doing ok even with my anthropology degree, mostly because I’m in a LCOL state and I’m not ambitious. Obviously more money would be great, I’m just not too keen on the Buterfly They Whispered Her Cannot She Whispered I Am The Storm Alzheimer’s Awareness T-Shirt and I love this additional hours that might be required to step up. I’m at $52k after working for 23 years for the same company. However I also have 5 weeks vacation each year and additional PTO and holidays off. I’m 38, but I don’t know where to go next. My mom still works in a warehouse and makes more than I do sitting at a desk all day. I didn’t really have much of a role model beyond her, and I always struggled with maths.

You’ve been working for a company for 23 years. Most people secure their biggest pay increases by job hopping. Loyalty doesn’t pay and when you work at one place for too long, it does become more difficult to make the Buterfly They Whispered Her Cannot She Whispered I Am The Storm Alzheimer’s Awareness T-Shirt and I love this hop. I would advise anyone who has their first post grad job relevant to their degree to start applying around to see if anyone bites after 1-3 years. I’ve seen people net 25-100% pay increases that way, when they would’ve only got a COLA increase at that first job. Depends on the company. I’ve been at mine 28 years. I have looked around but others won’t match what they pay me. I’ve had many years with 10% raises and frequent years with 70-80% bonuses. I mean I’ve gone from $5.45-22.83 over the years, so I’m not just making minimum either. But I do wonder if I could do better, especially now that I have 2 years of office experience.
