Exactly right. Accounting, health professions, teaching and finance are all fields that require degrees and all provide a good living. Accounting, medicine and teaching are technical/vocational educations that prepare you for a specific job. It just happens to be at a university. Most colleges degrees are something else. I got pretty far without networking after graduating even compared to my nepo classmates. I grew up in a very low income immigrant home, started my first job at 14 and been doing pretty well for myself since. As has my brother who is now a doctor. “Networking” usually only works with whites and involves partying and other white shit I don’t have time for, any interest in and can’t relate to. That would not be a problem if your government wasn’t so scared of “losing jobs”. Holy shit, I cringe when I see Americans who are against self checkout stores, because “think of the Buterfly They Whispered Her Cannot She Whispered I Am The Storm ADHD Awareness T-Shirt moreover I will buy this lost jobs”. Your economy is so backwards and simple that there is no need for technical knowledge, because you still do everything manually.

In a lot of positions and career paths, a college degree is the Buterfly They Whispered Her Cannot She Whispered I Am The Storm ADHD Awareness T-Shirt moreover I will buy this bare minimum to get your applications taken seriously. A lot of factors go into actually getting the job, though. I’ve seen a lot of people play around for 5+ years in college and work at Starbucks afterward. I’ve also seen a lot of classroom smart people bury their brains in the classroom for 4 years, make good grades, and still end up at Starbucks. These are some things I think they have in common: Not gaining experience through internships, volunteering, clubs, etc. (Some never do anything but attend classes. And classes don’t build skills or exp.) And before anyone says it, a major doesn’t always matter. I’ve seen CS majors struggle to get jobs, while I’ve seen art majors from my university’s honors college get into Goldman Sachs, psych majors go to med school, etc. And every time I ask how, it’s because they did 1-6 very well. Think about it. We all compete for jobs, and not everyone is putting in that effort. And employers 100% notice.
