It can open doors, for some jobs or companies it’s required to check a box. But it isn’t the Buterfly They Whispered Her Cannot She Whispered I Am The Storm Achalasia Awareness T-Shirt it is in the first place but only requirement, more just the first requirement on a list. A shocking number of people make it all the way to graduation having no idea how to create a resume, or sell themselves in an interview, or network, and those things can work in tandem with that degree. It’s just one of many components. Yep to all of this. I didn’t start getting opportunities after college until I freelanced for a while. Most companies want to see that you have tangible skills and examples of success, not a fresh degree — but they often use the degree as Filter #1 regardless. Because most companies don’t want to train anybody. Interns are the exception, but not all companies hire interns.

To add, the Buterfly They Whispered Her Cannot She Whispered I Am The Storm Achalasia Awareness T-Shirt it is in the first place but colleges don’t particularly want to train anyone either. But this of course is not new news. They just want to suck that sweet sweet federal loan money from the government and saddle students with debt, who in turn are under equipped to pay it off. The saturation has simultaneously increased while the quality of education (with few outliers) has decreased, especially in the last 10 years. I have family who work in higher education and they are under relentless pressure to lower their standards and award higher grades to undeserving students. A lot of college now is just for the “college experience.” Not learning. That’s why you see so many fancy gyms now with resort style pools and climbing walls, fancy dorms, a focus on better food in the cafeteria etc. And look at the countless millions big schools spend on their football teams. The administrators run the schools now, not the college professors. Depends on your major, and level. I would say from the last quarter of my sophomore year and on–everybody took their education seriously. There’s no way you’d have made it past Calculus and Physics if you weren’t.
