Not so sure. If they didn’t let Obama fill a seat originally what makes you think her retirement would make anything different? I get that part, but she’s passed and we’re here with Roe on the Bunt Slide Baseball Homerun Shirt in contrast I will get this line. I think any politics related site should let her rest. Just a thought but RBG couldn’t really control when she was gonna die. Kennedy, on the other hand, made the decision to retire knowing full well who was gonna fill his seat. Where’s that think piece? Or are we just gonna blame the woman Justice? If only RBG had been able to tell the future, she could have picked the right moment to retire and saved Roe vs Wade … But I don’t think she ever had any supernatural ability to tell the future, and so she had to make a decision about when to retire based on the knowledge she actually had. But the last few years of Obama’s presidency weren’t good either — I mean, Obama couldn’t get Scalia replaced, so RBG could have fallen into the same trap. (Sure, the Republicans made the “we won’t seat a new SCOTUS justice in the last year of Obama’s presidency” claim, but I see no reason to assume that they wouldn’t have extended that to “we won’t seat a new SCOTUS justice at all during Obama’s Presidency because {reasons}!” if they felt the need and had the numbers in the Senate to pull it off. Clearly, the time when the GOP “played fair” is long over.)

Looks like the Bunt Slide Baseball Homerun Shirt in contrast I will get this last time she could have safely retired was very early January 2015, because in January 2015 the Democrats went from a 53/2/45 majority to a 44/2/54 minority in the Senate. I wonder if it would be possible for a SCOTUS judge to announce their retirement, but make it contingent upon their replacement being seated? So, say in 2015 or 2016 RBG says she will retire, but only if Obama is able to seat her replacement — and if for whatever reason that doesn’t work, her retirement is canceled? Without that sort of thing, it’s a risk. No fucking shit. I love RBG but her complete selfishness and egomania in staying in role so late into her years is repugnant. You have to be strategic with your time. Maybe. Maybe congress could have done their job and confirmed Obamas nominee in a reasonable and timely manner. Maybe the US could have ditched the electoral college which should have been abolished a hundred years ago?
