Apologies 🙂 My day job is automating workflow. I still hate self checkout. The work isn’t automated. It’s just that I’m doing the work instead of an employee. I know stores that are working to changing this. Particularly for older people, time shopping and waiting in line is a time to socialize with the other people in line and the cashier. They have all the time in the world, so why would they care if shopping takes an extra ten minutes? Most are very lonely. I don’t think it’s because they’re scared of the machines (at least not entirely). I have lots of old people on my Facebook they’re firm believers of “that’s not my job, I shouldn’t have to be a cashier when I go shopping” and use it as a form of bitter protest.

Yes and now they are complaining of lost revenue due to theft at self checkout being so massive, that guess what… They’re going to raise prices for this convenience of checking ourselves out and paying for their stupidity
