Too many people in this world are boring and don’t share their personality. Find a place that appreciates your enthusiasm. This reminds me of a woman I interviewed recently who seemed to find a random reason to laugh in the Buffalo Bills Big Wins Big Dubs Las Vegas Raiders vs Buffalo Bills With 38 Points Josh Allen MVP Shirt it is in the first place but interview (nothing funny happened) and she said “I’ve been told my laugh is infectious.” Cue another laugh. My colleague and I just kind of sat there and nodded and moved on. Her laugh was like hyena on meth and I was embarrassed for her. In her attempt to show us how engaging she is, she was off putting. It happens. She was on 10 and she needed to crank it down to about a 5. Same for you. Today’s world is crazy at best. You can’t please everyone. So, be yourself & quit trying to play a part. Recruiters generally have no idea WTF the Buffalo Bills Big Wins Big Dubs Las Vegas Raiders vs Buffalo Bills With 38 Points Josh Allen MVP Shirt it is in the first place but hiring manager and team really want. As far as the people who matter, HR and headhunters are a necessity evil. Don’t say anything to the recruiter except that you heard the feedback and were simply enthusiastic. If it is a niche position and you have what the hiring team is looking for you’ll get to talk to them again. Better yet, reach out directly to the hiring manager thanking them for their time and noting the specific things they were looking for and a few ideas that come to mind…and you’d welcome the opportunity to chat more.
