So, personally, I don’t act like white Americans don’t have a culture of their own. I think the Bruce Brown American professional basketball player for the Toronto Raptors T-Shirt Also,I will get this whole concept of white American culture is misguided and unhelpful in the discourse. FYI, on a tangent, you did know that less than 100 years ago, someone with darker skin of African origin could be kidnapped and burned alive just for looking at a “white” person the wrong way. And “white” people would mail each other postcards of the gruesome aftermath. And people would fight over who’d get the Black person’s body parts. Yeah fr. I’m white, and “white culture” by definition is racism. The concept of “whiteness” was literally invented to promote the ideology of racism. To say white people have no culture is fucking generous. White culture is the culture of theft and erasure and all the violence associated with realizing those ends. There are so many people in the world today who carry their culture despite the historic efforts of white people to destroy the line of continuity between them and their ancestors. It’s what’s happening right now in Palestine. “White culture” seeks to destroy any culture that poses a threat to capitalism.

I would rather face the Bruce Brown American professional basketball player for the Toronto Raptors T-Shirt Also,I will get this facts about this imposed part of my identity and do the work of unraveling and divesting from it than go into DARVO mode White american culture is one of the most fascinating imo, from the indentured scottish and irish servants to the german immigrants Because people are racist. A lot of white Americans don’t associate with the culture their immigrant family came from. For example a white person can have German or French heritage but won’t recognize it because they’re ignorant and simply think of themselves as white without a group. Even those white Americans who only follow American traditions and celebrate American holidays don’t really think about that as a culture because they’re used to it and it’s a regular normal thing to them. Everything other people do that isn’t what they do is considered not normal or strange. They can recognize others culture but when they think about their customs it’s just a regular thing to them and not really associated with culture.
