So many ppl get scammed, hacked etc from stuff u don’t even see with ad blockers. Plus some site are just terrible to look at with badly placed intrusive ads. When I help someone with their computer I always put and ad blocker there for them. Ad blockers help save alot of ppl from themselves lol. If compaines want to try and stop ad blockers etc then they should have more accountability with ads they show and promote. Anyone have suggestions for a good ad-blocking solution that’s unlikely to break websites? I’m strongly considering installing adblockers on my parents’ computers (or maybe something on their network?), but they won’t know how to allow-list things that break. Would a DNS-based solution be reliable? (pi-hole seems cool, but I don’t really want to manage a server) Ironically Google themselves forced that change on me because I couldn’t visit YouTube to begin with, because of some weird sync issue/corruption with my Google account. This is the answer. Plus, running pi-hole doesn’t stop ads on YouTube, it’ll just stop ads on websites (depending on what filters you use in pi-hole) Also consider using “Sponsor Block” on Firefox. You can customize that and it’ll auto skip certain parts of videos (e.g. sponsors, intros, self-promotion, outros, etc). It can sometimes really cut down on how long a video is

Ive been running one for a good lot of years now Pi-hole is pretty easy to just set up once and forget for the most part. Though this reminds me I probably need to update mine since it’s been a while. youtube decided to be a little bitch about adBlock so I have switched to a different extension and instead of not loading the ads, it is loading them in the background and generating a click thru for every one. If you aren’t going to let me slink along in the advertising darkness I’m gonna shout back so much useless data I will continue to be an unmarketable product with the added bonus of click thrus meaning someone has to get paid
