I dont know of any papers on it, but I suspect humans have an above- average sense of proprioception. This is the sense that lets you know where all the different parts of your body are in space. Directional hearing – we’re pretty good at it. Excluding echo locators, we’re damn good at determining the direction a sound is coming from. People have been shown to use echolocation fairly effectively. There are even some sight impaired individuals who have learned to navigate this way quite reliably.
