After that I just don’t care what people think about you. If this is what someone who was meant to be my friend thought, imagine people who are actively rude? Also just to clarify, I do smile a lot and try to be nice, but I have been severely depressed several times in my life. So he didn’t really know me at all. He’s definitely smarter than I was… only thing that stopped my bullying was when I got taller than everyone else. In my whole life, I think there were two people that have disliked me for no reason whatsoever. A girl in middle school and a guy in high school. But the middle school girl was particularly cruel and I still remember her, many decades later. I was a quiet, introverted girl that kept to myself and didn’t know her at all. I hope your son picks up his happy-go-lucky side again when highschool starts, I had a similar transition in middle school to what you call grey rock, and I expected it to be even worse in highschool. I’m a junior now and I realize that a hell of a lot of people have experienced the same thing, and they want to be happier people but feel like they can’t. I’ve picked up my happier side again and I’m much happier for it. I know not everyone has the same experience in highschool, but I feel like mine isn’t so unusual to say it’s unlikely, so I feel like it’s good advice for people to pick up their happier side when they get into highschool, so I hope your son does.
