Take in the Big Nick Energy Santa shirt moreover I will buy this criticism. Ask yourself honestly “how do they claim I was being racist? Was that racist?” If the criticism sticks, it’s extremely helpful not to have that huge monolith of stigma in your brain about “being a racist,” so that you can deal with the concept of having some racist prejudices without it breaking your whole self-concept of being a halfways-decent person. And then you can learn from the incident! When halfways-decent people discover they’re making a mistake in life, they learn from that mistake and become better for it! In fact I’ve heard some good people even do that. Pointing to black people you have treated well, showing photos of your black friends or biracial family members… That’s never the way to go. It didn’t help the Proud Boy and I don’t think it’s ever helped anyone.

Big Nick Energy Santa shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

When people accuse someone of bigotry in any form, religious, racial, LGBT, disability, xenophobia… They’re not saying “This person is openly cruel to all ____ people and have no ____ friends to vouch for them!” And then you point to a ____ person as proof by counterexample… That’s not how it works. Thinking it’s a trump card you could have pulled out just points to you not even understanding things like implicit racial biases which is what this woman sounds like she was complaining about. If you work with the Big Nick Energy Santa shirt moreover I will buy this public, you need to understand that maybe some black people don’t wake up and choose violence. Sometimes they just run out of “I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.” You stop and reflect. Your first response should never be defensiveness, and trying to say you’ve hired black people is even worse than “I have black friends.”
