With my teenage stepdaughter in the Best louisville Cardinals Mascot Go Cards Shirt Furthermore, I will do this back seat trying the same trick, I waited until a vacant section of road and slammed on the brakes. “I saw a cat.” Had a mate die on Saturday night by not wearing a seatbelt. Was thrown out of a car when the vehicle rolled and he was crushed, a few other people in the car survived with no injuries as they all wore seatbelts. Please make your friend wear a seatbelt. If you are driving, then it’s your responsibility. Since you don’t want any blood on your hands, refuse to drive off. Also maybe figure out why they’re being an asshole about this. It’s as stupid as refusing to look both ways before crossing the street. unfriending would be pretty control freakish. I mean, it’s her life. She’s an idiot, but it is her right to be an idiot. Just drive and slam the brakes on a few times so she headbutts the dash, wouldn’t have happened if she had a belt on If it’s your car and you’re driving then I would simply refuse point blank to start the car until everyone had a seatbelt on. If they remove the seatbelt for any reason while the car is in motion I stop immediately and tell them why I’m stopping. I did that with my kids and now the law has changed here in Australia I do it with everyone. Its fair enough, people mention the ticket but having a body flying around next to you in a car crash can kill the rest of the people in the car.

I tried to argue with him about it one time but he just couldn’t understand/did not care about his own safety or the fact that I might not want to see his mangled body through my windshield because he refuses to wear a seatbelt. Yup. That sort of thing works out for years until it doesn’t. Minor car accidents aren’t that uncommon. A minor accident can turn into a major one without a belt. Not to mention the fines you can get when caught. You are not being unreasonable, you are being safe. You are well within your right to refuse to drive her around in your car if she won’t wear a seat belt, and I would strongly encourage you to do so while telling her that the concern is for her safety, and that it isn’t personal. I’m sorry, it can be difficult to discuss and set hard boundaries with best friends. I wish you luck, and if you are struggling to find a way to formulate your request to her, I would recommend using a DBT (therapy that teaches skills) technique called “DEAR MAN”, which walks you through making a request of someone in a fair way that is respectful to both of you
