It’s basically like some kids playing tag and a sore loser making up their own magic “safe” word to protect them from getting tagged because they keep getting caught first. But it’s only their magic word so no one else can use it. Then that same kid gets upset about it being unfair that all the other kids start making up their own magic safe word. You set the precedent, so you can’t get upset at others for doing the same. That is why I used the word, “escalation” and stated it is good as gone, but make no question about it, both parties set precedence as there was no precedence to apply the nuclear option to SCOTUS until the GOP did it. In most situations (obviously excluding Roe vs. Wade) Republicans benefit more from maintaining the status quo. Do you think they would want to get rid of the most effective mechanism for achieving this?

Uh Harry Reid, a Democrat, ended the Best Dad Hands Down, Fathers Day T-Shirt and I love this judicial fillabuster. And when he did was warned democrats would live to regret it. That doesn’t make any sense… the filibuster was never ended… reported for misinformation. Edit: anyone here have proof otherwise? Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell reduced the cloture threshold for nominee confirmations in 2013 and 2017 respectively, effectively ending the filibuster for nominations in the process. So once again. Title is completely off. Filibuster was never ended and is complete misinformation. Imagine if the rolls were reversed and this was a conservative posting. Shit would have been taken down instantly A very stupid idea. The abortion bill still wouldn’t pass. Moreover, ending the filibuster makes most sense when you have 50+ reliable votes and can get a lot of shit done. It doesn’t make a lot of sense when you only have 48 reliable votes and Republicans are poised to take back the house and/or senate. Why is this so hard for 60,000 upvoters? This man is a sad footnote on US history and I wish he would simply fade away. Everything that comes out of his mouth is noise pollution. They should. And to those of you complaining that the Democrats don’t have the balls to end the filibuster, remember that Harry Reid did so to push lower court appointees through long before the Republicans took advantage of the precedent he set to push through their Supreme Court nominee. If they don’t use their power in Congress to legislate on abortion, it’s because they don’t want to. Either they know they don’t have the votes, or they know that holding abortion rights hostage is more helpful to their future campaigning than ending the debate. Probably a combination of the two.
