Smart people tell me that when you donate, these large corporations write it off as a deduction for charitable donation. Then, they pass the Be the chang you want to see in the world shirt Furthermore, I will do this savings off to you! I always declined. Usually these charities are affiliated with the company im purchasing something from anyway. It’s infuriating. Also when I donate $20 I want the credit for it. I don’t want to give it to a corporation who then gets the credit for the generosity. Especially annoying cause they use that donation you gave as a tax deductible on their end. They save money on taxes off yiur donation. HEY ITS BECAUSE THEIR SON/DAUGHTER/WIFE/FRIEND Sits on the board of of said charity. And gets paid to do so. Its a money funneling scheme. Also in the same vein, although it makes me feel kind of bad to say this, how it feels like literally every place with the latest electronic payment kiosks asks for tips by default now with only the default options set of 10-15-20% or whatever other flavor. Sometimes there is a no tip option on the bottom but more often then not you have to click other and then purposefully put 0 and its often on a nice big screen for everyone and their mother to see what you select. I don’t and shouldn’t need to tip at literally every business I visit. Like I go to the bagel shop, tips, burger fast food places, tips, barber shop, tips. Ffs. Sure have an add a tip option during check out but don’t shove it in everyone’s face constantly, it should be designed as opt in not opt out for settings where tipping is not normal.

As I understand, they’re actually collecting money to reimburse themselves for a tax-deductible donation they’ve already made. This is corporate greed disguised as charity. Wait til you find out the company already made the donation for tax purposes and your “donation” is just to recoup the monetary loss.
