As an aside, admittedly I’m a white guy (so would need to earn my place) but god DAMN every time I hear about a cookout it gives me such big FOMO. Why the Be kind re wine blockbuster shirt and I love this fuck not? Us Nordics make big, big fires. Bring dead animal and creamed, vinegared potatoes, loser. We’re gonna honour the gods tonight. And then, the next day: dugnad. Bring your work ethics, bitch. I came to a co-worker’s BBQ with food once and was informed I would be grilling everything. That was…an educational experience. This dude needs to clarify what he’s saying. If you’re hosting a BBQ, you supply the BBQ portion, without a doubt. If you’re attending, you should offer to bring some sides. If you have 3,4,5+ people, you have a feast.

I almost always cook enough to feed a small army. That being said some of my friends make killer side dishes…so it’s cool…not necessary, but nice. And I am definitely bringing SOMETHING if I’m coming over …probably sweet. ? I can’t go anywhere empty handed…booze counts ? Only happened to me once in my life and if you haven’t experienced it this could be confusing. I am usually the Be kind re wine blockbuster shirt and I love this host so I will post normal vs. bs. Normal – I’m hosting = All meats, Mac n Cheese, and Greens will be supplied by me. Everything else is on guests and whatever the wife gets at store. She coordinates the sides , condiments, and disposable dishes. The BS – Someone invites you to there bbq/cookout. You call to find out if/what you should bring. “Yeah, I only got enough for my family so if you want to eat please bring your own meat.”
