15 years on she’s off to a microbiolgy Phd in Heidelberg Germany and is coming to visit me in London before she starts because I was the Be kind be brave be true be happy be you positive quote classic shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this one that got her interested in studying all those years ago… Father of a 4yo wonderful girl. I’ve learned that she can be both strong and fragile and to never stop reinforcing her by looking her in the eyes and telling her how smart or good she is. It doesn’t if we’re in the middle of the parking lot and she tells me about a kid at school who said she was dumb. I will stop where I am, get down on my knee and look her in the eye to tell her she is smart, kind, and good. Then I’ll hug her, but ask her not to hug me too hard. She’ll then squeeze as hard as she possibly can and I’ll pretend I’m being crushed and she’ll laugh. She can be so confident, but so quick to doubt herself. She’s only 4/already 4 and I just want her to know she is good and that no matter what dad will always be there to tell her that.

I guess that’s another thing too. I always bought into the Be kind be brave be true be happy be you positive quote classic shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this chauvinistic bs that dads don’t cry or show emotion. From the day that I held her tiny person in my arms I realized how impossible that would be for me. I’m not saying I’m a blubbering mess, but she sees me cry out of happiness and out of sadness. She’s definitely taught me to be confident with my feelings. Girls can be vicious bullies – not in a physical way, but just downright mean. I told my daughter to try treat everyone evenly if she could. I said that she’d see those popular girls eventually on their way down. I have 6 girls and I learned that I needed to be the best man/father in their life so they don’t end up with fuckbois. The perpetual belief that she’s not good enough. Not strong enough. Not perfect enough. Whatever you say and do to alleviate that is never enough.
