As a side note, while I was not a good student for my bachelors… I graduated with a 3.9+ from my Master’s program. My professors loved having conversations with me about the Barbenheimer Barbie the destroyer of word come on bobby let’s go party T-Shirt so you should to go to store and get this material. I had truly amazing instructors. Putting in the extra effort to be social truly paid off and I think beyond the class itself I could have asked for connections if I needed a job. You just have to find a company you can invest in that won’t entirely take you for granted, but also realize everyone is currently looking for a job that pays 100k, works from home, and is “low stress.” As someone who is working in a leadership role, nothing is more of a let down than someone who doesn’t want to invest in where they’re at. There are certain jobs in life that you can clock in and clock out, even be effective in… Other places need to build a culture. My personal stance, is if work is just work to you and there is no passion for what you do, or you don’t enjoy the people you’re with, then work will just be work to you. You’ll always likely do the bare minimum. So to tie this into the OP’s post, you can’t just minimum run everything that involves work if you want more out of life. There are people that do, but they’re the outliers. You want 100K and to work from home with low stress? Be abnormally good at what you do, be in the demand. You want college to open doors for you? You have to knock on the right doors.

As always, if all else fails… just show up and be a good dude/dudette. It’s amazing how far in life you can get by showing up in the Barbenheimer Barbie the destroyer of word come on bobby let’s go party T-Shirt so you should to go to store and get this right place, at the right time, with the right attitude. Just my 2 cents OP! Because they are getting degrees that aren’t going to get them a job. Study something relevant and you will find that doors do open. It does. You remind me of the “why get the vaccine if you can still get COVID” people. If people with degrees are struggling, people without degrees are struggling even more. I agree that college opens doors, but many with college degrees close most of the doors opened by being too picky. Not every degree is made equal. Get a psych degree and you got a piece of paper. Get an engineering degree you will find work. I’m in a hiring position. I see lots of applications asking for $60k starting that have zero job experience. It’s a lot to ask when we have nothing to go on. No idea if you can take direction, get along with a team, or even show up dressed appropriately and on time. It’s really important to be able to show job experience, and if it’s relevant experience, that’s fabulous. The university, major, GPA, etc. all matter. All universities. all majors, etc. are not equal. Also if you do the bare minimum or a poor job, you can’t expect good results. What you went to school for is a big factor. STEM field graduates seem to struggle with this issue much less than business or arts majors.
