Fun fact, JC Chasez was also on MMC. MMC used to tour and I went to see them perform in a Target shopping center parking lot. I waited in a long ass line to meet JC and I thought my life had peaked. Don’t remember meeting Britney or Justin because I didn’t care about them yet. Am I high or…. wtf I swear that something is so different from her discography voice to this performance?! Like 1 minute on she just lays down some pipes that just sound so…. full and bright, smooth and controlled its insane! She was trained to mimic a “baby” sounding voice to distinguish herself from Christina Aguilera, resulting in her signature singing style. It’s unfortunate that her strong voice was permanently butchered from then on. Honestly, the Back to the Future Vintage DMC DeLorean T-Shirt in other words I will buy this entire story is so obscure to me, but all I feel is genuine sadness and anger from what I do know. Everyone in her life, especially those she trusted most, were just there to get something from her in the worst ways possible.

When a teen vocalist reaches the Back to the Future Vintage DMC DeLorean T-Shirt in other words I will buy this kind of popularity that Britney did, the record labels put a lot of pressure to maintain that adolescent sound that fans have grown to know. Similarly, I recall there being a lot of talk about whether Justin Bieber would be able to keep his career afloat after hitting puberty. But another part of it is that society currently prefers female vocalists with soprano range, especially in pop music. When you hear people say that certain female vocalists “can’t sing” they’re usually saying that because they don’t have the desired soprano range. For example, Miley Cyrus is a technically skilled singer but she has a lower range and an especially beautiful voice at the lower end of her range but people often say she can’t sing. Interestingly, we don’t seem to pressure male vocalists to achieve bass and baritone to be considered talented vocalists.
